All Terrain Cycles to operate gravity shuttles on Mt Buller this season

22 October 2018

The Mt Buller Mt Stirling Resort Management Board (RMB) would like to announce that All Terrain Cycles (ATC) has been awarded the license to operate mountain bike shuttles servicing the downhill trails from November 2018 through until May 2019.  The service will run from Lower Tyrol carpark to the Village and up to the downhill trail entry points at Spurs Restaurant.

The RMB invited three parties who expressed an interest in shuttle operations this summer to submit proposals to run the service for this summer period. The request for proposal process was initiated following the natural end of a previous agreement with Blue Dirt.  RMB CEO Mark Bennetts stressed that Blue Dirt had been an integral part of the mountain bike community on Mt Buller and Mt Stirling for many years and thank them for their contribution.  "They have run a reliable and professional operation and we applaud the work that they have done to contribute to the success of Mt Buller and Mt Stirling as one of the country's leading mountain bike playgrounds".

Shannon Rademaker from All Terrain Cycles (ATC) said he is looking forward to working further with the RMB and other mountain stakeholders to build a simple one-stop-shop for downhill riders on Mt Buller this summer.  He said "I love this mountain and want to encourage more and more riders across the country to get up into the Alps and experience all this area has to offer. We'll be offering single day, seasons passes and family shuttle passes, beginner to advanced skills development and working with local operators to further improve the visitor experience this summer."

The need to consolidate mountain biking operations at Mt Buller followed a review of summer operations conducted by the RMB and Buller Ski Lifts. This review determined that the most sustainable business model was for a single operator to provide a fully integrated mountain bike offering at Mt Buller.  This change presents an opportunity to further expand the shuttle service and provide a more consistent lifting operation for downhill mountain bikers. With ATC retail outlets in Mansfield and on Mt Buller the opportunity to communicate the change and accommodate new and existing visitors with a seamless offering was well received.

The RMB would like to thank Buller Ski Lifts and Blue Dirt for their past contributions to mountain biking on Mt Buller and congratulate ATC on their appointment.

Shuttle operations from Mirimbah remain unchanged.
