Tips for Families

Bike Buller has plenty to offer families that are keen to try mountain biking. Take to the beginner trails or improve your technique on the Pump Track. With bike hire conveniently available in the heart of the Mt Buller Village, you’ll have the whole family ready to ride in no time!

Biking for families 

Village Family Trail 

Grade: Easy
Distance: 3km
Riding time: 30 minutes
Gradient: Gentle upwards and downwards slopes.
Fitness: Low endurance, low technical skill.
Description: Follow the green Bike Buller logo stencils on the road from the Clock Tower, along to the end of Goal Post Road where the trail begins. An easy, fun ride for the whole family. Popular with walkers, so always ride at a safe and controlled speed and be courteous to other trail users. Starts at the end of Goal Post Road and finishes at the Arlberg Hotel.

Easy Skills Trail

Grade: Easy
Distance: 100m
Gradient: Mostly flat
Fitness: Low
Description: Hone your skills in the skills park before heading out onto the more challenging trails of Corn Hill and Mt Stirling. The Easy Skills Trail is a short loop trail featuring rollers, berms, a log ride, some steps, a see-saw and some timber ramps and platforms.

Pump Track

The pump track is located at the base of the Blue Bullet chairlift in the Village, is perfect for beginners practising balance, learning skills and improving confidence on a bike before heading out onto the trails as well as also being perfectly suited to advanced downhill riders looking for a new challenge. Fun for everyone, the pump track is suitable for use by all ages and abilities including kids and can be ridden on any size or type of bike, scooters, roller skates/ blades and skateboards. Bike hire & skills clinics

The Mt Buller Village has a dedicated store that rent bikes – both cross-country and downhill – as well as offering servicing, spares, local knowledge and a skills clinics! Walking & Hiking

Mt Buller and Mt Stirling offer a range of walks, from leisurely interpretive strolls to full day bushwalks and even a sculpture walk and a ‘Gnome Roam’ for the kids. A range of self-guided walks and audio tours are available Click here for all the details.

Tennis

Enjoy a smashing game of tennis whilst taking in the spectacular views of Mt Buller's outdoor tennis court. Racquets and balls are available from the Mt Buller Post Office. For further information please click here.

Gnome Roam

Come and take a walk with Mt Buller's little folk! The Mt Buller Gnome Roam takes visitors on a self-guided tour of the mystical gnome world of the mountain Village where they will catch a glimpse of resident Mt Buller gnomes, learn about their favourite places to play as well as some interesting facts about the gnome way of life. Collect a Mt Buller Gnome Roam booklet from Alpine Central to guide you through the walk. The booklet, which makes a perfect keepsake, contains an intricately designed map and beautiful photos of Mt Buller gnome folk. Once you’ve completed the Gnome Roam drop back into Alpine Central to collect your gnome sticker! On your way up the mountain, you can also stop in at the Gnome Home for a visit. Located about 3km up the Mt Buller Tourist Rd, keep an eye out for the Gnome Crossing sign and just past that you will find the Gnome Home, in a majestic Mountain Ash tree.

Buller Air Zone

This awesome trampoline, airbag challenge and climbing facility welcomes everyone from kids to adults, elite athletes and the general public alike. Anyone who loves to launch themselves into the air can work on their skills, workout or just enjoy playtime in the ultimate alpine freestyle playground. Click here for more details.

 

Horse riding

Horse riding available at Mt Stirling, Mt Buller's neighbour, providing you with a great way to explore the high country like the cattlemen of old with access to over 60km of beautiful trails. Saddle up and roam freely along mountain ridges or through wide-open fields and thick forest gorges. Guided tours with local horsemen can be tailored to suit all ages and abilities, including day trips and overnight treks. Scenic trails leading to Craig's Hut and the Stirling Summit are always popular, offering great views of the surrounding region.  For further information click here.
